Jamie Keesling is a New York-based writer and educator. She has written and lectured on the crisis of and possibilities for art criticism in the twenty-first century, the influence of Freud's theory of sexuality for modern and contemporary movements for sexual liberation, and the history of emancipatory politics, especially exemplified by mid-twentieth century Frankfurt School theory. Current research interests include the history of psychoanalysis and politics, gender and sexuality, and the clinical application of Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalytic theory. Her writings have been published in The Art Newspaper, Caesura, Hyperallergic, The Platypus Review, and Sublation Magazine. Keesling received a BA in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MA in Critical Theory and the Arts from SVA.
